Privacy Policy

CV Buddy is built to keep your CV data on your own device. This page explains exactly what happens to your information, in plain language.

What we don't collect

We do not require an account to use CV Buddy. The personal and career information you enter — your name, work history, education, and so on — is never sent to our servers. It's stored only in your browser's local storage, on your own device.

What we do collect

We use a privacy-focused analytics tool to understand overall usage — for example, how many people visit the site, and which CV template is most used. This tool does not use cookies, does not track you across other websites, and cannot identify you individually. It reports aggregate counts only, such as "template X was selected 40 times this week," never the content of your CV.

Your CV data

• Autosave: as you fill in the form, your CV is saved automatically to your browser's local storage so you don't lose work on refresh. This data never leaves your device.
• Backup file: if you click "Backup (JSON)," a file downloads directly to your device. We never see or receive this file.
• PDF export: your CV is rendered and printed to PDF entirely by your own browser. No server is involved in generating your PDF.
• Clearing data: clearing your browser's site data, using a different browser, or switching devices will remove your saved CV. Keep a JSON backup if you want to preserve it.

If you create an account (future feature)

If CV Buddy introduces optional accounts and cloud sync, this policy will be updated first to explain exactly what's stored, where, and for how long — and using an account will always be optional.

Third parties

We don't sell or share your CV data with anyone. The only external service currently involved is the anonymous analytics tool described above.
